This video was from my graduate collection at Polimoda Fashion Institute. I've always been fascinated by ritual and rules. Rules can be restraining and limiting but can also raise us to virtuous heights. In design I'm restricted by materials, my imagination, and the functionality of what I'm creating. I find that limitations actually make me push the boundaries to the limit and create art.

These shoes were made from old stairway balusters. Sometimes materials I find will inspire me.
Tim Gunn's favorite
Tim Gunn loved this shoe when I was on Project Runway. I was making a flat moccasin when my imagination started running away with me. I created the heel from an old lilac bush in the backyard.
One of my favorite artists is Piet Mondrian and I wanted to see what a shoe could look like if we took his 2 dimensional paintings and made a 3d object. This is only the heel.
